About Greater Nashville Regional Council
Full Council membership includes each mayor and county executive, four minority members, one industrial representative from each county, and two members of the General Assembly. The full Council meets annually to elect new officers, certify the new Executive Committee, and adopt the new annual work program and budget.
The smaller Executive Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. at 501 Union Street, 2nd Floor Conference Room, Nashville, Tennessee and directs all Council programs and services, with a professional staff of 45 people and current annual budget of over $8.2 million.
Executive Committee membership includes a mayor or county executive representing each county (selected each year by caucus of county executive and mayors in each county — designated alternates for each are also selected at same time), the four minority members, the two State Legislators, Council Officers (President, Vice President and Treasurer), and small city and large city representatives.
