THREESTAR – 2014 REGIONAL WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

2014 THREESTAR REGIONAL WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

TNECD will conduct a series of regional workshops during November and December for County
Mayors/Executives and the JECDB designated ThreeStar coordinators to discuss the upcoming 2015
ThreeStar program year.

The following topics will be covered: purpose and benefits of ThreeStar participation; program
design and requirements; best practices and promising projects from previous years; and process and
timeline for application submittal.

Sam Edwards – Honored with Distinguished Public Service Award

SAM EDWARDS OF GREATER NASHVILLE REGIONAL COUNCIL

HONORED WITH DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD

 

Sam H. Edwards, Executive Director and Chief Legal Counsel of the Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) was recently awarded the prestigious Joseph I. Mulligan Distinguished Public Service Award by the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA).  IMLA, a non-profit, professional organization has been an advocate and resource for local government attorneys across the United States and Canada since 1935.  IMLA’s over 1400 attorney members honored Mr. Edwards at their 79th Annual Conference held in September, in Baltimore, Maryland, for his significant and surpassing achievements in the field of local government law.

 

Mr. Edwards, well-known in planning and legislative circles for his land use law and planning expertise, has served as Legal Counsel for GNRC since 1991, before also being chosen as its Executive Director in 2004. GNRC is a regional planning and economic development agency serving 13 counties and 52 cities, including Metro-Nashville in Middle Tennessee.  Mr. Edwards is a member of the American, Tennessee and Nashville Bar Associations, is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University (B.S. Urban Planning), the University of Tennessee (M.P.A.) and Nashville School of Law (J.D.). He resides in Lebanon, Tennessee with his wife, Debbie. They have two grown daughters and six grandchildren.
