Senior Centers

GNRC provides funding to senior centers across Middle Tennessee to support programs and services for older adults. Senior centers provide a place for persons age 60 and over to come together for socialization and activities that support independence,  diverse needs, and interests, and encourage community involvement for senior citizens.

Many senior centers provide educational opportunities through various speakers sharing information on health-related issues, chronic disease, Medicare, nutrition, tax preparation assistance, computer classes, and support groups. One of the major components a senior center program offers is health promotion/health maintenance programs. This includes programs such as fitness and exercise, health screenings, walking programs, and nutrition. Community services and referrals for senior citizens in need are also provided through the senior center.
