Historic Preservation

Historic preservation is an essential economic development tool to create vibrant places, and support growth and sustainability. GNRC works with locals to support historic preservation activities through a contract with the Tennessee Historical Commission.

GNRC provides technical assistance to individuals, city governments, and not-for-profit organizations regarding historic preservation programs, practices, and activities. Staff can also assist with preparing grant applications, historic and architectural resource surveys, Section 106 reviews, preparing nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, and preparing design review guidelines.
