GNRC’s programs and services include the following areas:

Volunteer Program:

A wide variety of volunteer opportunities are available, due to the many different programs and services we provide. We value our volunteers and look forward to connecting them with opportunities that fit their skill set and interests. Organization-wide Opportunities

  • Administrative Volunteers: Assist with office tasks such as copying, filing, data entry, and making phone calls
  • Special Event Volunteers: Help with event set-up/ take down, and registration at special events
  • Communication Volunteers: Help with content and design of marketing material, e-newsletter, and social media
  • Brand Ambassadors: Represent GNRC at community fairs and events

Client & Service Assistance Volunteer Opportunities

  • Senior Outreach: Support and encourage seniors who spend most of their time alone by calling to check up on them. Friendly conversation, listening to their concerns, sharing stories, and offering encouragement help seniors stay positive.
  • Service Assistance Volunteers: Make follow up calls to clients to ensure that they were able to access the services referred during screening calls.
  • Guardianship Program Volunteers: The guardianship program provides conservatorship to Tennesseans over the age of 60 years who are unable to manage their own affairs. Volunteers visit with an assigned client twice a month with the goal to build a relationship of trust with this client, so that the client feels comfortable to voice any problems or concerns.

Community Development Volunteer Opportunities

  • Housing Grant Volunteers: GNRC connects low-income older adults who own their home with grant money to make repairs and accessibility upgrades. Volunteers assist the housing coordinator with collecting photos of residences to include in grant applications.

Medicare Program Volunteer Opportunities

  • Medicare Counselors: Counsel clients one-on-one
  • Outreach / Event Volunteers: Represent GNRC at fairs and distribute marketing material
  • Administrative Volunteers: Assist with office tasks such as copying, filing, data entry, and making phone calls
