Elder Rights AAADThe GNRC Public Guardianship Program provide services for individuals assigned to the agency by the Circuit, Chancery and Probate Court system. The program provides services to those persons 60 years of age and older who due to physical or mental limitations, are unable to meet the essential requirements of their physical health or to manage essential aspects of their financial resources, and have no family member, friend, or corporation willing or able to act on their behalf. The program works with a number of community agencies including mental health organization in order to meet the need of the consumers being referred to the program. Recruiting volunteers is an important component of the program because they assist in making visit to the consumer in order to monitor conditions and environment and report findings back to the Guardian.

Legal Services
Legal advice and representation provided by an attorney to people age 60 and over to secure and maintain public benefits, to resolve consumer problems and other situations requiring the intervention of an attorney. GNRC contracts with the Legal Aid Society of Middle TN and The Cumberlands (Legal Aid) to provide legal services.  Legal Aid has bilingual staff as well as access to a language line.  Legal Aid makes presentations to senior centers and nutrition sites on legal topics that might affect older persons. Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are advocates for residents of nursing homes, homes for the aged, assisted-living facilities and similar adult care facilities.  They provide information and work to resolve problems or complaints of individual residents.  The Ombudsman can also provide assistance to a prospective resident or family member to find a facility that best meets the needs of the prospective resident.
