Regional transportation is a key ingredient to economic, environmental, and quality of life success in Middle Tennessee. GNRC is involved with planning for all modes of transportation through involvement with local planning bodies, the Nashville Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Clarksville Urbanized Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Middle Tennessee Rural Planning Organization. GNRC staff serve as voting members of both MPO’s and as a non-voting member of the RPO.
The Nashville MPO is the designated transportation planning agency for Davidson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson Counties, along with parts of Maury and Robertson Counties.
GNRC assists the region in the development of the Federally-required 25-year Long Range Transportation Plan, the 5-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and other special projects as needed.
The Clarksville Urbanized Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is the designated transportation planning agency for Montgomery County/Clarksville and Oak Grove, Kentucky, as well as portions of Hopkinsville and Christian County, Kentucky.
GNRC assists with the Long-Range Transportation Plan, the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and other projects as needed.
The Middle Tennessee Rural Planning Organization coordinates transportation projects among local governments outside the 2 MPO’s to assist the Tennessee Department of Transportation with implementation of its Long Range Transportation Plan and make recommendations for multi-modal projects.
