Tourism is big business in Tennessee and is one of the most important job and income producing industries in the State. In 2010 alone, the 13 county Greater Nashville Regional Council region saw nearly $5 billion dollars in tourism expenditures, an overall gain of 6.7% over the previous year. The Middle Tennessee Tourism Council (MTTC) in conjunction with GNRC, has the primary purpose of providing tourism marketing and other promotional activities to its members. Membership in the MTTC is open to chambers of commerce, area attractions, local governments and convention and visitors bureaus in the Middle Tennessee region.
MTTC offers small matching grants for our members, and partial scholarships for county tourism representatives to attend professional development courses. In addition, MTTC offers networking opportunities with other members throughout the region and provides membership in the Tennessee Association of Convention Visitors Bureaus, a strong advocate for the Tennessee tourism industry as a whole. Through our relationship with the TN Department of Tourist Development, we also provide access to travel writers and magazines, leads to national and international trade shows and groups interested in visiting our area. We are often called upon to supply ideas for travel groups and writers. MTTC also provides programs and speakers of interest to tourism related businesses, along with free assistance in creating, updating and distributing brochures and pamphlets marketing your organization.
It is our goal to promote our members whenever and wherever possible. The more we know about your attraction or event the better we can promote it. We would love to include your organization, attraction or event on our website, and to have your organization provide a link to our website as well.
Funding for MTTC grants and scholarships comes from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development through GNRC. Match for this grant is provided by the MTTC membership and the GNRC. GNRC staff administers the grant program for the Middle Tennessee region.
